Annuals, Herbs & Vegetables

Starting in early spring, John’s Country Nursery carries a great selection of annuals, herbs, and vegetables. From pansies to basil and tomatoes, we have everything for your garden. We also pride ourselves on offering our customers a wide variety of beautiful hanging baskets and planters.

Once frowned upon, smart gardeners know that planting annuals, herbs, and vegetables together is a great way to naturally control pests, boost pollination and provide color to your garden. Certain vegetables, such as onions, can help deter aphid attacks on plants like roses. Marigolds have the same effect and work well with tomato plants, fending off snails. Another good example might include placing petunias with beans to repel bean beetles.

Try these ideas for landscaping with herbs: Fill in empty spaces with parsley to add foliage interest. Basil can be tucked into the garden as an accent nearly anywhere. Thyme, mint, and oregano can all be used as ground covers in the flower garden. Many herbs have attractive flowers and fragrant foliage, which can be easily integrated into the garden such as lavender and bee balm.
